våbenskjold

Søndergade winds its way down the slope and extends out to formthe triangular "Søndertorv"(Southern Market).

Shortly past we find "Postholdergården"(Postmaster's Yard) built for Hermann Daniel Linde in 1758 and was used as a post office until 1850.

Unfortunately the building is empty, but luckily the garden is open to the public.

The neighbour is called "Rebslagergården"(Roper's Yard) after its first owner, roper Daniel Møller. It weas built in 1795-98.

Then the street changes its name to "Sønderport"(Southern Gate), where the opposite corner is occupied by Schwennesen's Foundation. Built as home for merchant Jacob Schwennesen in 1772 it was turned into an almshouse in 1792 after his death.
We return along Søndergade.
