The landmark of the town is the statue Landsoldaten by H. W. Bissen.
It was erected in 1858 in memory of the sortie of July 6th 1849, which effectively broke the siege.
Being pedantic it might be better placed at the Northern Gate, rather than here by the Main Gate, since it was along the northern stretches of the salient the fiercest fighting took place. The Main Guardhouse was built in 1736.
We pass through the Prince's Gate from 1752.
From the glacis we enjoy a vista towards the water tower on Prince George's Bastion, before we reach the founder's monument at Frederik IIIs Plads("Frederic iii's Square").
We continue along Vesterbrogade("Western Bridgestreet") towards the Station
