At the time of the planning of the town, a number of narrow blocks had been laid out for being used as docks. These were never built though, so one of the blocks was turned into Ryes Plads("Rye's Square").

Ryes Plads have a miitary legacy like Bülows Plads. The memorial for Olaf Rye, a casualty of the siege in 1849. The monument was made by Andreas Paulsen and erected in 1876.

At the southeastern corner the cinema(No. 29 Prinsessegade) has replaced Carpenter's Yard in 1938
We drop a block along Prinsessegade("Princess Street") to follow Fynsgade("Funen Street") east towards the remnants of Funen Bastion.

No. 42 is delightfully attractive compared to the general architectural standard of the neighbourhood. This used to be a rather boggy area property of the Reformed Church.
The street ends at the hospital, where we turn left along Dronningensgade("Queen's Street").
